Moment of Truth

As Center for World Indigenous Studies chair Rudolph C. Ryser states in his op-ed at IC Magazine,

I have been working with indigenous leaders for decades and arguing that indigenous nations must take the initiative to take back that which is and always has been theirs: land, resources and freedom to move... Asking for rights from those who have no interest in recognizing those rights is a defeated policy. Taking back your land and resources they stole, as Chief George Manuel urged, is the only alternative to self-destruction.

He goes on to say,

During the last four years, many UN member states have switched from liberal democracy to reactionary fascism as global economic collapse stirs deep fears among the working class and billionaires who willingly give autocrats and dictators license to rule... Fourth World nations have three alternatives: become chameleon nation’s to hide from attacks; join the scapegoating; or form coalitions with other nations and with states to establish defenses and take control of lands and their wealth.

Sounding a note of dire warning, Dr. Ryser observes,

Virtually all of the work by indigenous leaders in the United States to build constructive relationships with states and central governments and the United Nations are now utterly at risk of collapse and reversal. Trumplicans will likely become the ultimate “Anti-Indian Movement” in the United States since leaders of that movement now hold seats in Congress, the Senate, the Supreme Court and the Executive Branch as well as thirty of the fifty states.

Equality and Justice

When it comes to the DNC and RNC, neither serves the American poor. As competing criminal enterprises, they pay lip service to the middle class, but their agenda always serves the 1%.

Since the Reagan era, looting the U.S. Treasury has been the primary objective of both national parties. Resentment by neglected Americans is reflected in reactionary presidential campaigns every eight years, but throwing one party out never achieves justice.

What the DNC and RNC share is a disdain for all but the 1%, and a sinister disregard for civil and human rights. The only area where they significantly part ways is that the RNC represents racial, religious and sex discrimination, while the DNC more-or-less screws us all equally.

Time to Learn

Liberal politicians and political pressure groups have expressed outrage over Trump's transition government-in-waiting. Socialists who supported the Sanders campaign are talking resistance and civil disobedience. Whatever you choose to do, take time to learn, and think about it.

1.For activist scholars focused on resistance development, two books provide insight on the topic:

Norwegian Resistance 1940-1945 by Tore Gjelsvik (operations and infrastructure)
A Quiet Revolution by Mary Elizabeth King (strategic opposition, education)

2.For those oriented toward understanding social movement development:

Analyzing Social Settings by John Lofland
To the Right by Jerome Himmelstein

3.For society in conflict:

Civil Wars by Hans Magnus Enzensberger (selflessness and self-destruction)
The Fall of Yugoslavia by Misha Glenny (communications and narrative dominance)

The Last Emperor

As the sun sets on the American Empire, it won't matter so much which fool plays the role of the last emperor, the war-mongering career crook Hillary Clinton, or the pussy-grabbing frat boy Donald Trump.

The Empire Struck Back

Winning the World War in 1945 made America top dog, positioning the US to assume the imperial role previously held by Great Britain. As the US soon learned, however, ruling the world is no cakewalk. Some countries like to rule themselves, and find the notion of foreign armies setting up military bases in their homeland repulsive.

Still, social democracy was popular in the aftermath of the World War, and the US went to great pains to quash it. In countries like Greece, Iran and Chile, the US CIA had to work with some nefarious characters to derail social democracy. Many innocent people died, but the American empire was preserved.

With social democracy dead except in Scandinavia, the door was open for fascists and religious fanatics to recruit the disillusioned and downtrodden. Which brings us to the present. For six months, Bernie Sanders breathed life into the gasping philosophy that saved Americans from the Great Depression, but alas, the empire struck back.

Obama's Legacy

Fracking Bakken and the Gulf of Mexico are Obama's legacy. That, and death squads to protect US-supported sweatshop states like Indonesia and Honduras. Lucky for him he got his Nobel Peace Prize in advance.

The Modern State

Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.
