Credibility
Given Obama's full spectrum betrayal of the American people, widespread religious hysteria, economic panic and social vengeance are probably inevitable. If progressives want to offer a credible alternative, they have to attack the neoliberal state's anti-democratic agenda that Obama has embraced wholeheartedly.

Indigenous Report
State of the World's Indigenous Peoples, a new report by the UN, notes that the extreme poverty of indigenous peoples on all continents is directly related to their loss of lands, often taken illegally by private interests backed by state authorities. In places like Colombia and Peru, says the report, those authorities augment official violence against indigenous peoples with that of paramilitaries.

State Breakdown
One of the things we'll be dealing with more as our state breaks down amid religious hysteria and economic despair, is irrational, even sociopathic behavior as an almost normal phenomenon. Persecution complexes will abound. Petty bickering, up close personal conflict and domestic disputes, indeed, are already escalating exponentially.
